Welcome to Miami everyone. This is the week before hometowns, and it seems like the women have just figured that out. I have been wondering why none of them have mentioned it before last night. Our six remaining ladies get to their hotel suite and find that Juan Pablo has so nicely left them all itsy bitsy teen weenie bikinis. He shows up to say hi and hands out the first date card to a shocked Sharleen. This has infuriated crazy Clare to no end. She seems to think that every one on one date should go to her. Sharleen hurries up to get ready and is off with Juan Pablo while the rest of the ladies are left at home to wonder why the heck he is in to her.
Juan Pablo and Sharleen end up on a yacht sailing away for the afternoon. They are cuddling and taking selfies and kissing. Sharleen is definitely struggling here. The fight between lust and logic is strong with her. She finds him totally sexy and can’t deny their chemistry. Her head is telling her she needs more out of this and Juan Pablo’s lack of communication is not working. In the words of Canadian Brad Smith (who found an amazing lady in this process) his mantra is when in doubt…….make out is totally true here.
They have a picnic on the beach where she tries to talk more to him. I can really see her trying to figure out her issues with him, and he just isn’t giving her anything back. At dinner she brings up how singing has been her priority for years but she is ready for a change and now has different priorities. Sharleen is brutally honest and tells him she doesn’t know if she is ready to bring him home. He appreciates this in her and since there are no roses on the one on ones at this point Sharleen goes home to wrestle her thoughts. She even opens up to Renee who tells her not to do anything that she will regret later on.
Nikki is given the next one on one date called “Listen to My Heart Beat” Nikki assumes it is more dancing and responds “Do I have to dance again?” All the girls think she is too negative and isn’t suited to Juan Pablo. The girls are now forming into Team Clare (Chelsie and Renee) and Team Nikki (Andi) This date does include dancing, but not on Nikki’s part. He takes her to his daughter’s dance recital. I am a little torn on this idea. I am not sure introducing your daughter on national TV to a girl you aren’t totally committed to is a great idea. I am also shocked the whole classes parents signed releases for their kids to appear on TV. Then I think maybe he needed to see Nikki with children and the rest of his family to make a decision. She met his daughter, his mom and dad and Carla, the ex, mother of Camila. I didn’t think she was particularly impressed by Nikki who wore short shorts to the event. Lets discuss…..yes a casual even but when your shorts are shorter then your pockets you may need longer shorts….NO??? He then takes her to Marlins Park, where he works, for dinner. They throw the ball around a bit. The double sided tape on her blouse does some pretty hefty work keeping her in and decent. They then picnic on the baseball diamond. She asks him how he would fit in with his extended family and he gives her nothing of substance as an answer.
Back at the suite, Sharleen has decided that despite the physical chemistry he doesn’t have what she needs in a husband. She tells the ladies then goes off to tell Juan Pablo. Once at the suite with him I was hoping he could change her mind. he didn’t even try.
He listened to her, touched her face so much I wanted to swat his hand a million times. She holds strong and lets him down. He cries, she cries and off she goes into the sunset. Good bye my fellow Canadian. I will miss you!!!!
Chelsie, Renee and Clare are all sent back to the hotel. Team Clare are all aghast that they are there. Clare wanted a fight so she starts to hint that Juan Pablo gave the rose to Andi because she needed the reassurance and she didn’t deserve it. Nikki want to hear none of it sensing it will become a bash Andi conversation and leaves for her room. Clare feels disrespected and follows her. The squabble and Nikki finally asked her to please leave her room now. The fight now gets down to the it’s not your room you didn’t pay for it level because Clare can’t think about the level of an 8 year old. Nikki finally loses it and calls her effin crazy and Clare storms out. Nikki has one of the best diary rooms ever!!! “Clare is like a dog, she peed on him first” is the best line I have heard in a long time. Unfortunately he is not her territory, but Clare doesn’t know that.
Back on the date Andi and Juan Pablo are making out in the ocean AGAIN!!!!! This guy really needs to be dry docked for a bit. The poor oceans of the world have taken a beating. Then they go to a Latin Music concert and dance. Again, no real conversation goes on. At this point in the game it really should be. How is he picking his wife without some basic conversations?
The ladies show up for what has got to be the tensest cocktail party EVER!!! It is Team Clare vs Team Nikki. The tension is so bad, or so great from a production stand point, we see NO conversation or make out sessions between Juan Pablo and the girls. Instead the focus on the awkward and bitter conversation of the ladies that aren’t with him. At one point they all abandon Nikki and Clare and they just sit there in silence. Stone Cold Silence! Editing showed us a few minutes, after reading Chris Harrison’s blog he said it was about 10-15 minutes of glorious awkwardness. The ladies come back one by one to break it up. Juan Pablo joins them and seems truly terrified of the silence. Chris finally puts him out of his misery and brings him into deliberations. Everyone but Chelsie gets a rose. She exits gracefully then falls apart. We now get our Mesnick Moment. Thank you Jason for giving us the now standard over the railing, crying like a baby shot. Ugh, man up and get on with it.
I am seriously lacking conversation this season. How can you pick your wife without knowing certain things. I want to know if Renee will uproot her son to move to Miami. Will he move away from his family and Camila so Andi can keep her job? How many kids does Clare want? Can Nikki just pick up and meld into his gigantic family? I need answers Juan Pablo???
My bests are still on Renee and Nikki. Next weeks previews look really juicy but if I have learned anything, editing is always deceiving. Remember folks next week is two nights of Bachelor fun. Monday is hometowns and Tuesday is fantasy suite night!!!!! See you all then!!!
