Calling all nerds and bring in it, Nerd Army! In just a couple of weeks, the season three premiere of King of the Nerds will begin. Very soon we will return to Nerdvana once a week to watch as a whole new batch of nerds take on the challenge of the nerdiest reality show on television, but first… Let’s meet the nerds!
Amanda @amanduhduh | The Bookworm | Twenty-four year old Amanda from Arizona is married with two kids and not only manages her own book blog, but an online boutique specializing in comic book-inspired apparel. Amanda is also a paralegal, enjoys debating, playing the flute and is into the steampunk culture.
Ben @DeepSeaSith | The Marine Biologist | Twenty-nine year old Ben from Los Angeles is a self-proclaimed super nerd with a Star Wars-themed kitchen and a Harry Potter-themed bathroom. Ben enjoys tabletop gaming and is researching microbial genomics in deep sea environments as his postdoctoral study.
Colby @Colby_Burnett | The Jeopardy Champ | Thirty year old Colby from Chicago might look familiar to some folks because he competed in two Jeopardy tournaments and took home $375,000 in winnings. Colby is also a world history teacher and quiz bowl coach.
Heather @heatherklus | The Neuroscientist | Twenty-four year old Heather from Denver is a neuroscientist who loves Harry Potter, conventions, constructing costumes and writing a television analysis blog. Heather also competes in the international scavenger hunt GISHWHES and considers herself to be well-versed in many areas of nerd culture.
Jacob @jacobrubin | The Quiz Master | Twenty-five year old Jacob from Oakland writes bar trivia as his profession and participates in comedy shows. Jacob is also very into comic books, speculative fiction, animation and finding good karaoke bars.
Jonathan @skyetetra | The Mathematician | Twenty-eight year old Jonathan from Tempe has a PhD in Industrial Engineering with a passion for board and video games. Jonathan at work saves businesses millions of dollars using his professional math skills and is married to a fellow math addict.
Kaitlin | The NASA Engineer | Twenty-six year old Kaitlin from Redwood with a doctorate in mechanical engineering and works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. Kaitlin very much enjoys reading and this native Californian loves spending time outdoors in the sun at the beach.
Lily @Lilatron22 | The Professional Cos-Player | Twenty-two year old Lily from Denver has a degree in developmental psychology and elementary education. Lily is also a proud Trekkie and Browncoat and enjoys tabletop tournaments, marathon PC gaming sessions and competitive cosplay and conventions.
Ori @pickleking | The Larper | Twenty-two year old Ori from Silver Spring is a mechanical engineering student who loves live action roleplaying and robotics. Ori is also a major fan of anime and enjoys “excessively” bad puns.
Raychelle @LlamaLamb | The Gamer | Twenty-seven year old Raychelle from Springfield is passionate about cosplay and video gaming. Raychelle also enjoys anime, manga, comics, horror, Disney, Nintendo and math and science.
Thomas @tvollum | The Brony | Twenty-one year old Thomas from Huntington Beach is not only a Brony, but a Star Wars junkie and Lego enthusiast. Thomas is also into online gaming and is an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Todd @ToddtheBod12 | The Comic Book Nerd | Twenty-six year old Todd from Pittsburgh is very much into comic books, pop culture, online gaming and Magic the Gathering. Todd claims he is the life of the party and often puts himself into awkward situations.
