So, things didn’t go according to plan for Vanessa. Her plan to have Clay and Becky win the Battle of the Block competition and dethrone her was foiled when Liz singlehandedly pulled out the win and saved herself (and Julia) and James from being evicted this week. Read on to find out the results of the Power of Veto competition and if there is a potential blindside for an unsuspecting houseguest…
We begin after the Battle of the Block competition. Clay’s mommy (aka Shelli) is distraught because her baby boy is still on the block, so she rushes inside to nurse him and calm him down. Vanessa is upset because she is now the “real” HOH for the week and she will be getting some blood on her hands. Personally, I hope she pisses some people off with this HOH and they come after her ass really soon. Vanessa, Shelli and Jackie meet in the HOH bathroom and the plan to get Austin out is still a possibility, but they will have to go about doing it differently since Liz and James are now safe. Vanessa says they will eventually need to let Liz know of the plan to get her on board and hopefully she won’t be gunning after her afterwards. She says they need to act calm about this and not let people know they are upset about this turn of events.
Liz and Austin talk about the Battle of the Block. She is sure that James tried to throw the competition because he was so awful at it. This upsets Austin because it makes him believe that she was the target for the week and she was supposed to remain on the block. You’re close there, Austin! The plan was to keep Liz on the block and put you up next to her! He is so blind to everything because he is so infatuated with her. He would sacrifice his entire game and $500k over a nonexistence showmance. He goes upstairs and talks to Vanessa about this “conspiracy” to get Liz out. She assures him everything is okay even though there is a real plan to get him out of the house this week. Meanwhile, Austin is downstairs in bed with Liz and they are cuddling and giggling and playing around in the bed. This, to me, is so gag-inducing and I just cannot even stand to look at it when they are alone together. She’s not interested in him in the slightest and is made uncomfortable by him, yet she continues to lead him on for the sake of gameplay. It’s gross! And when he grabs her by the face and steals a kiss, it’s even more vomitous! I do love how even Big Brother is having fun with this stupidity, they even gave it an official hashtag, #BBnomance. LOL!
It is time to pick players for the veto competition! As usual, only six people play. Vanessa, Clay, Becky and three other random houseguests. The worst case scenario for the dominating faction in the house is for Liz or Austin to play in the veto as they would keep the nominations the same and the plan to get Austin out would go down in flames. Vanessa is first and she draws the “houseguest choice” chip, so she picks Shelli to play in the competition. Clay pulls Johnny Mac’s chip out of the box and it looks like John will be playing in yet another competition, even though he has no personal stake in the outcome this time. Finally, Becky draws Liz’s chip out of the box. Of course! When houseguests don’t want someone to play, they always end up playing. That’s how BB works, right?
Vanessa, Shelli, Jackie and Becky meet upstairs in the HOH room to discuss whether or not Liz needs to be let in on the Austin backdoor plan now that she is playing in the veto. Vanessa doesn’t want to have TWO people pissed off at her (Liz and Julia) by blindsiding them and getting rid of Austin. I hate to say it, but Shelli really is a voice of reason here. There is no need to let Liz in on the plan right now. They decide to cross that bridge when they come to it after the POV competition.
MAJOR BREAKING NEWS in the Big Brother 17 house! Steve has formed his first alliance in the game! He’s all alone in the cabana room (or whatever the hell we are calling it this year) and he notices the camera is following him around. He has some fun moving around and squatting as the camera tracks his every move. This is a weird little segment to see Steve befriending a damn camera when he should be building relationships with the humans of the house. I love Steve, he seems sweet enough, but he is so socially out of the loop and he’s not doing himself any favors by aligning with high-definition production equipment when he should be talking to people and strategizing. Meh. Whatever. Next paragraph.
Now for the big moment of the episode: it’s time for another Power of Veto competition! The houseguests walk out into the backyard and apparently summer is over and fall has begun! There are leaves everywhere and then the veto players come running out… dressed as SQUIRRELS! In “Get Nutty,” the players have to roll their ball (or “acorn”) up a ramp and as it is rolling back down the other side, they have to catch it and repeat the process. The first one to make it to 250 wins the veto, but if they drop it, they have to start over at zero again. This competition just HAD to have been tailor-made for Jason to host because of his funny ass pronunciation of squirrel… SQUARE-UHL. This comp would seem simple enough, but I think it would be a huge pain in the ass to have to run back and forth constantly without stopping, and not dropping the ball. I’m clumsy so I’d always be dropping the ball or rolling it too hard and then having it drop off the other side. Anyway, I’m getting off track here. Everyone gets started and Clay pulls into an early lead. Everyone eventually starts letting their acorns fall to the ground and then having to start over, meanwhile Clay is still powering through it without ever dropping his once! In fact, he has such a strong lead, that he stops and takes a break (holding the acorn), and no one manages to catch up to him! Since he is better at handling nuts than he likes to admit, Clay wins the Power of Veto and he is no longer the only houseguest to have never won anything! Meanwhile, Becky pulls a Rachel Reilly and goes off into the bushes to cry about her loss.
After Clay’s win, it is time for Vanessa to work on discussing the plan to backdoor Austin to Liz. After Liz takes a shower and has a 90-minute chicken dinner (something that was conveniently ignored on the show), Vanessa and Shelli fill her in on Austin outing the twins to Jason. They tell her about Austin’s plan to get rid of Julia and keep himself and Liz safe. However, stupid Liz thinks Austin just made a stupid mistake and didn’t mean anything malicious by it. Vanessa then decides that she doesn’t want to blindside Austin so she calls him upstairs and talks to him. What is wrong with these people? Don’t they know we love a good blindside? She tells him that his back against the wall and that he has put a HUGE target on Liz’s back by ratting her status out to Jason. He tries to explain it away by saying he thought it would be beneficial to tell Jason. Vanessa then turns on the waterworks and says that Austin betrayed her and she thought they were friends and blah, blah, blah. He asks Vanessa if she would put him up and she said it’s a possibility. He then proceeds to beg and plead with her like a child in the supermarket begging mommy for a toy. She tells him to go talk to Shelli and Clay and see if they are willing to keep him. He heads downstairs and he, Shelli and Clay throw Steve out of the cabana room so they can talk. He admits to them that he is falling in love with Liz and he has been playing emotionally (aka thinking with his penis) and that is why he ratted out Julia to Jason. He begs for their forgiveness and says that he would never willingly betray the Sixth Sense alliance. Shelli says that they need to keep their numbers solid by not voting out one of their own.
It’s time for the reigning HOH and the two Battle of the Block winners to have their steak dinner from Outback Steakhouse. Vanessa reveals that they each get to choose one guest to bring to dinner. Vanessa chooses Becky, Liz chooses Austin (shocker) and James picks Clay to come to dinner with him. They all get dressed up and head to the backyard for a dinner catered by Outback. It must be nice to be able to eat real food instead of slop or shit the houseguests cook for one another. That said, WHERE THE HELL WAS THE BLOOMIN’ ONION? These people got robbed, I tell you!
It is now time for the Power of Veto ceremony. As the POV holder, Clay obviously removes himself from the block. As the Head of Household, it is Vanessa’s responsibility to name a replacement. She proceeds to say that the person she has chosen is a great person, has a beautiful person, a great heart and it was a huge and difficult decision to come to. She nominates JASON as the replacement nominee and he is truly blindsided by this. America lets out a collective gasp and sobs hysterically as the funniest and wittiest person is now the target for eviction on Thursday. And this, my friends, is why VANESSA IS A SCUMBAG BITCH. (Jason’s words, not mine.)
