It’s time for the second night of the Big Brother 17 premiere! Finally, we will see ALL of the houseguests together in the house for the first time. We are introduced to the last six people who will enter the house: Jason, Vanessa, John, Becky, Steve and Liz. That’s it? Only six more? Surely we won’t have just 14 people playing the longest season of Big Brother ever! The most interesting people to me in this group are Vanessa, John the hyperactive, possibly ADD, rockstar dentist and resident nerd Steve! I’m sure Jason is a nice enough guy but the accent drives me INSANE! Sorry bout it.
The six houseguests join our resident Chenbot on the stage. She tells them that some of the houseguests have already moved in and know about a couple of the twists already in play! She tells them that the Battle of the Block is back this season and that the first HOH has already been crowned. She also tells them about the #BBtakeover twist and that they will never know who or what will be the twist. The first three to enter the house are Liz, Becky and Steve. Already, Steve is nerding out big time. Liz is thirsting after Clay already (but who isn’t, right?). Becky tells the group she is from Colorado and Jace asks what part of “Rado” she is from. What? The final three (Jason, John and Vanessa) enter the house and we finally have all 14 houseguests together for the first time. We discover that John is, in fact, this year’s DR screamer, but I am okay with that.
The 14 houseguests gather around the table for their introductions. John tells the truth that he is a dentist and NO ONE believes him! Vanessa introduces herself as just a DJ, leaving out that she is a multimillionaire poker champion. Jason introduces himself as a stocker at his local supermarket who lives in his mom’s basement. I have to give him props for being able to be honest and humorous about it, at least. Audrey stands up and reveals to the new group that she is the first transgender BBUS contestant. Becky introduces herself and …zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz… *snores loudly* Okay, sorry! I’m awake!
Julie introduces us to a surprise guest who will be the first takeover of the season: Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race! He explains to us how he will be taking over the house: there have been Big Brother duos on The Amazing Race such as Jeff and Jordan and Brendon and Rachel. It’s only fair that he gives us some Amazing Racers to enter the house and play the game! We are introduced to Jeff Weldon and Jackie Ibarra from TAR 26. They will be entering as houseguests 15 and 16! They reveal that they are “close friends” but not passionate or anything like that. I didn’t watch TAR last season, but I’m kinda excited to see how they will perform in the BB house. Also, Jackie kinda looks like a Kim Kardashian wannabe. But I like her vibe so far… maybe she can be a big, bitchy persona in the house!
It is now time for the second group to compete in their HOH competition! Julie calls the houseguests to the couches and asks one of them to sit the competition out. Vanessa decides to sit this one out. Again, I am forced to ask: ARE YOU STUPID? This is an excuse for them to nominate you! They walk into the backyard to find aliens and poles and crop circles and all that fun stuff. Julie explains the rules of the “UFOh No” HOH competition: they will have to hold on tight to their stakes without the UFOs sucking them up into the mothership. As they hold on for dear life, they start getting sprayed with slime. It starts to get harder to hold on and Steve is the first to be out of the competition. Jeff throws the comp and lets go of the pole because he doesn’t want to be seen as a threat. John is the next to go, followed by Becky. Liz is out next and we are left with Jackie and Jason. Jason is in a good spot and it looks as though he doesn’t have to put forth any effort, but Jackie is NOT about to give up. The first “deal” of the season is made as Jason convinces Jackie to let go and she will not be nominated by him this week. With that, Jackie lets go and JASON is the second HOH of the week!
As the credits roll, Phil comes back on the screen and says that Da’Vonne and Vanessa, who sat out of their HOH comps, took a huge risk by sitting out and that SOMETIMES with great risk there is great reward and we (and the houseguests) are left to speculate what this could mean.
What did you think of the second group of houseguests and the first #BBtakeover? Are you happy with who won HOH? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter @vince1187 and lets keep this conversation going!
