Becky became the new Head of Household for week 7 and has nominated Shelli and Steve for eviction… but her real target for the week is Vanessa! Find out who wins the Power of Veto competition and whether or not Becky will be able to follow through with her plan to put Vanessa up next to Shelli!
We begin right after the nomination ceremony. Steve is not sure that he is safe this week, so he wants to win the veto and secure his safety so he can come after Becky next week. Vanessa is paranoid (I know… crazy right?) that Becky is reserving her as a backdoor target since Becky refused to make a deal with her after she won Head of Household. Becky takes Shelli upstairs and tells her that she is going after Vanessa this week and that she can act like she knew nothing about it… Becky is okay with getting all the blood on her hands this week. Meanwhile, down in the cabana room, Steve is juggling oranges and having another one of his loner conversations with the camera. (I HATE it when they break the fourth wall! It totally ruins the voyeuristic nature of us watching the feeds! Don’t talk to us!) He believes that Becky was accurate in her speech. Cue the serial killer music as Steve vows to us that he wants to get rid of Becky! (Seriously, be glad that they don’t get real knives anymore.) Down in the nightclub room, Vanessa laments to Shelli that she thinks SHE is the target this week. She is, of course, but why should Shelli care at this point? She’s actually ON the block at the moment and needs to be concerned about her own game. Vanessa hopes that she gets the POV this week so she will be safe and she can save Shelli as well. That’s the absolute worst case scenario for us! She even tells Shelli that if it comes down to them as the final 2 in the POV competition, Shelli should throw it to her and let her win! The nerve of this one to even suggest that! Why would anyone on the block throw a POV competition, even if they think they are throwing it for an ally?! That’s insane! Vanessa also asks Steve to choose her to play if he draws the houseguest choice chip.
Shelli and Johnny Mac talk in the nightclub room about Becky’s plan to backdoor Vanessa. John tells us in the diary room that he doesn’t have many allies in the house and wants to continue working with Shelli. He tells Shelli that if she draws his name out of the box, he will definitely use the veto on her if he wins. They discuss the possibility of her drawing the houseguest choice chip and think it would be best if she chooses Vanessa to play, because it would look too suspicious if she didn’t choose her. John then meets with Steve in the bathroom. He tells Steve that Vanessa is the backdoor plan for the week. He tells Steve that he needs to pick him to play in the veto so they can win and get Vanessa on the block. Steve asks John if he wins the veto would he use the veto on him. John tells him no (he’s using it on Shelli) and leaving Steve up next to Vanessa to ensure her eviction. Steve hasn’t done anything all summer (except win one POV), therefore he is no one’s target.
Okay, it’s time to take a break from all of this gameplay and have ourselves a little group vomiting session. Liz and Austin are outside cuddled up in the lounge chairs and talking about how they are the only “showmance” remaining… all the while Julia is sitting in the hot tub staring at them with a look of utter disgust. Us too, Julia. Us too. Liz admits in the diary room that this whole thing started off as a ploy to get her further in the game but now she is developing real feelings toward Austin. She says that he is not her typical muscle-head Miami stud, but his personality is winning her over. I think she’s lost her ever-loving mind, to be quite honest with you. (To learn more about Stockholm Syndrome, click here.)
It is now time to pick players for the veto competition! This is particularly important as we will see whether or not Vanessa gets to play. If she is picked, it will mean she can’t truly be backdoored this week. Only six players are allowed to play. Becky goes first and she draws Austin’s name out of the box. Shelli draws the houseguest choice chip and chooses Vanessa to play. (There’s talk that Shelli and Vanessa “cheat” because they know which chip is the houseguest choice just by the way it feels, but I’m not going to debate that here.) Finally, Steve picks Meg’s chip out of the box.
It’s time for the veto competition! Each player will be playing this competition alone. It’s one of my personal favorite comps, “BB Comics!” There are seventeen comics based on each of the houseguests. Each player will have to zipline across the course to look in the window and see the comics. They then have to put all of the comics in order on the computer screen… but there are also decoys, so they have to make sure that all the minor details match what they saw looking in the window. I would have to say that I would probably suck at this competition because I don’t notice small details, especially if I am in a rush. I have to say that some of these comics were hilarious! (Check out the bottom of this blog for a gallery of all the comics!) My favorites were Audrey (“The Blanket”) and Jason, holding a string of sausages! Meg seems to go really slow at this comp, so no surprise there! Steve seems to have a pretty good strategy in place to shorten his time. Once all the players have had their turn, it is time to reveal their individual times! Shelli had the slowest time of 25:31, while Steve had the fastest time, clocking in at 13:57. That means that Steve wins the Power of Veto!
Now for the moment of truth: it is time for the veto meeting. Steve is obviously saving himself from eviction this week. It is Becky’s responsibility to name someone as a nominee to replace him. Becky makes no bones about it and nominates Vanessa for eviction. She gives an awesome speech here and tells Vanessa what’s what. She says that she has a hard time knowing who Vanessa is with and who she’s against. She also calls her out for being so influential by being able to spin amazing deals each week and come up with these plans to get other people out of the house. One thing is for sure: it is going to be a crazy eviction! Either Shelli or Vanessa leaving will be a benefit to the other houseguests. But getting Vanessa out should be a priority since she is so influential by being paranoid and guilt-tripping and forcing the others to do her bidding.
