Once again, Vanessa became the Head of Household for the week. Johnny Mac is back in the game after being evicted and coming back in to win the jury competition. Vanessa named James and Meg for eviction and James is surely a goner unless he can be saved from the chopping block. Read on to find out the results of the Power of Veto competition!
We begin the episode with Meg crying in the diary room about this being a lose-lose situation with her and her best friend James being on the block together. She cries that every single person has been taken from her so far in the game. I’m not happy that James and Meg are up on the block, but I really don’t feel that Meg has any right to whine about this when she’s basically slept all season long at Big Brother summer camp. Vanessa tells James that this was nothing personal and that she doesn’t have a specific target in mind. Meanwhile, James and Meg regret not taking out Vanessa when she was on the block next to Shelli weeks ago. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, right? Vanessa meets with James and Meg in the have not room and feeds them another line of bull about how she’s alone in the game and at the bottom of the totem pole and has to make moves that benefit her and they are a power duo that will never turn on one another, etc.
It’s time to pick players for the veto competition! Almost everyone in the house will be playing in this competition; only two will not be participating. Vanessa chooses the first chip and it is Julia. James is next and he draws Liz’s chip. Finally, Meg draws Austin’s chip. Great. Now Vanessa and all of the Austwins are in the competition. The odds are really stacked against James!
Once again, it is time for the veto competition to begin! They walk out into the backyard to see a retro game show set. The name of the comp is “Hide & Go Veto,” and this is the same comp from an earlier season that left the Big Brother house totally destroyed. One at a time, each player is given three minutes to hide their veto card somewhere in the house. Once all the cards are hidden, they will each take two-minute turns ransacking the house looking for the hidden veto cards. The player whose card is not found will be the winner of the Power of Veto! I have to say this would be a fun comp, but the OCD side of me is absolutely mortified at the mess that gets left behind. Meg is first and she hides her card in a spot underneath one of the beds. Austin hides his card inside the duvet cover on one of the beds. James hides his underneath the carpeting in the living room. Julia zips her card inside one of the cushions in the parlor room. Liz hides hers in the freezer inside one of the pizza boxes. Finally, Vanessa hides hers inside one of the sofa cushions in the living room. Round one begins and no one is able to find a card until Vanessa uncovers Liz’s card hidden in the pizza box. Round two ends once Julia uncovers Vanessa’s card inside the sofa cushion. Round three ends with Grandma Meg finding Julia’s card in the parlor room. James finds Meg’s card hidden in the bedroom. Vanessa finds the last veto card but we don’t know which one was found until it is revealed. One by one, the players are eliminated from the competition after finding out their cards were discovered. The last card is revealed to be Austin’s, which means he is out of the competition and James is the winner of the Power of Veto! I must say that was a pretty genius spot to hide his card. I would have chosen to hide mine under or behind a huge appliance like the refrigerator, because the houseguests couldn’t/wouldn’t move it!
While James is super stoked that he won the POV and is safe, Vanessa is freaking out hardcore in her HOH room because now James is staying another week and she must get more “blood on her hands” by having to nominate someone else in the house. She realizes she needs Meg to go this week which is going to be hard to do. She has to put up one of her own alliance because if she does Liz or Austin, they are huge targets and would be evicted if they went up. She decides that the best option would be Julia to go up as a pawn because she’s not seen as a huge threat in the game and Meg would almost be certain to be kicked out.
It’s time for the veto meeting. Obviously, James is no Marcellas so he uses the veto on himself and saves himself from the chopping block. Vanessa must name someone to go in his place. She ends up going with her plan to nominate Julia as a pawn to ensure Meg’s eviction this week.
