And then there were nine. Celebrity Apprentice was back for another episode Monday night with only 9 of the 16 celebrity contestants remaining, after the firings of Shawn and Lorenzo last week. This season really seems to be going by fast!
We begin the first hour with Trump giving the dwindling cast their next assignment: each team will host a guided boat tour around New York City, complete with an original theme and entertainment for all the guests on the boat. The winners will be determined from the feedback of the guests.
It’s now time to pick the project managers who will be responsible for leading their respective teams in this task. For Team Vortex, Sig finally steps up and takes charge. After all, boats are kinda his thing, right? He’d be stupid not to! For Team Infinity, Brandi steps up and takes charge.
As the teams begin to plan their project, Sig laments that this is not really as easy as he thought it would be. It’s not just about a boat, it’s about entertaining people. He’s really going to be relying on his other teammates on this one. You know who knows absolutely nothing about entertainment? Geraldo. Yup. This guy was talking about getting Revolutionary War reenacters with muskets. WHAT? He has absolutely zero touch with reality. Kate speaks up and tells Geraldo (albeit nicely) that his idea sucks and is boring.
Over on Team Infinity (aptly named because that’s how many times this team has won this season), Brandi gets to work figuring out what everyone’s role will be during the project. They try to decide what the theme will be. One of the ideas thrown out is “Manhattan Mardi Gras.” Brandi tells them that really won’t work because Mardi Gras is a New Orleans thing and this has to be tied to New York City.
Team Vortex continues to work on idea for its theme. They settle on “The Sexiest Catch,” which is a play on Sig’s TV show The Deadliest Catch. Although, I would never associate him with sexy. Sig then proceeds to get Hooters girls to show up because sex sells, right? Wrong! Not to women and kids, who will also be part of the guest list.
Brandi tells the rest of the team that they absolutely will not stick to the original Mardi Gras theme and have to change their planning at the last minute. She meets a little opposition but she holds firm and says that she doesn’t want to blow it by having a New York boat tour remind people of New Orleans. I have to agree with her here. Smart thinking on her part! She decides the new theme will be “Big Apple Bonanza.”
It’s now the day of the event. The teams only have a couple hours to get everything ready. Sig is a little irritated the bartenders haven’t shown up and he’s having to lug cases of wine and get them on ice when he could be doing other things. He then has a ginormous outburst for no apparent reason. This guy has some serious rage issues and obviously cannot handle stress well.
Team Infinity’s cruise seems to be going quite well and people are having a good time and making noise. Leeza is killing it as the tour guide. On the other hand, Vortex’s tour is very very very awkward. Geraldo gives a boring history lesson, and the Hooters girls are a major faux pas. I’m so glad I wasn’t on that boat. Oh, and then Geraldo belts out “SCREW THE TERRORISTS!” I swear I think it must be his mustache that clouds his judgment and makes him socially challenged.
There was a weird moment for Infinity though, too. Kenya takes it upon herself to perform “Gone with the Wind Fabulous.” Everyone was still having a good time for a bit and then things turned sour when she dropped to the floor and started getting very sexually suggestive with her moves. It was a major LOL WTF moment for sure.
We head to the boardroom to find out which team was the most entertaining and was chosen as the winner by the guests! Geraldo gushes over Sig as project manager and how he can do no wrong. For a moment there, I thought Geraldo was going to lean in and kiss Sig right on the lips. That’s how bad the sucking up was. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. It would have grossed us all out and Sig would have gotten rug burn from Geraldo’s mustache. Enough with that nonsense. No surprise here, the winning team was Team Infinity! Brandi really pulled it off this week and yet again, Infinity is safe and Vortex will lose another team member. Brandi gets $30,000 for her charity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Sig, even though he lost, gets a $25,000 check for his charity as well. Sig is the next celebrity to be fired.
We begin the next hour with Team Vortex dwindling to just three team members. Time for another shakeup! Trump pulls Kenya from Team Infinity and sends her over to Vortex to help even out the numbers. The teams then receive their next task: creating an interactive, themed environment featuring Trump National Doral and all of its new amenities. They will be judged on creativity, brand integration and overall guest experience.
The project managers are then chosen for this task. Ian steps up again and takes charge for Team Infinity, and Kate is the head honcho for Team Vortex.
Vortex gets to work on their next failure project, and Geraldo throws out his idea for a theme and Kate and Kenya seem a little tense as Kate assigns people to certain tasks. Meanwhile, over on Team Infinity, Ian goes back into his story about his charity. It’s a good charity, Ian, but we’ve heard about it before. He said this will get him a seat “closer to God.” Oh, that’s why you’re doing this? Not for the kids? Nice.
Ian tries, once again, to steamroll his way through this task without asking for input from the others. He’s really starting to irritate me more than Geraldo does these days, and that’s saying something. Meanwhile, Vivica is not really feeling Kenya as the newest member of the team, especially when they are running late getting back and she tries to throw Vivica under the bus.
It’s now the big day and the stress is on to get the details just right for Trump, because he is going to be very picky since this has his name on it. Ian continues freaking out over minor details and almost wets his panties when Brandi attempts to move a sign to the front where it can be seen better. Vortex really screwed up again because their set looks like total cheap crap. Meanwhile, Infinity’s is more interactive and looks more elegant. They even have Johnny giving the ladies massages. Ian looks like a complete idiot when he doesn’t know the size of the ballroom (so detail oriented), but Brandi comes and saves the day because she stayed up all night studying so she would be prepared.
Back to the boardroom to find out which team will be the winner and which one is the loser. At this point, do we even have to wonder anymore? It’s been the same losing team for a while now. Kenya starts some drama with Vivica in the boardroom and tries once again to throw her under the bus. Moving Kenya to Vortex was a mistake. The winning team is, once again, Infinity. Vortex is about to lose yet another. They might as well all just quit on that team at this point. Vortex stays in the boardroom and it’s yet another dramatic round of Kenya vs. Vivica. Kate even says that Kenya should be fired for her negativity and drama (and I agree). However, Trump ends up firing Kate.
What did you think of this episode? Did the right people get fired? Let me know in the comments below! And be sure to follow me on Twitter @vince1187 as I live tweet next week’s EXPLOSIVE #PhoneGate episode of #CelebApprentice that involves Kenya stealing Vivica’s phone and hacking her Twitter account. It looks to be a crazy episode!
