Today is the day all housewives fans have been looking forward to or dreading. The sentencing of Teresa and Joe Guidice of fraud. Early this afternoon we learned that Joe Guidice was sentanced to 41 months in federal prison. Technically the sentence is 53 months but with some of the time being served consecutively the time was lessened to 41. He also has to pay $414 000 back to Wells Fargo Bank and $10 000 in fines. Joe also faces imminent deportation following his sentence. It was a long afternoons wait for Teresa to get her verdict. While she asked for leniency and was hoping for house arrest or parole the judge decided to send a message. It’s not about who you are or how famous you are, you do something wrong and you need to pay. The judge has sentenced Teresa to 15 months in prison. She is to serve her time before Joe serves his and needs to surrender herself before January 5, 2015 and plans to do so. This allows her to spend the holidays with her family. This allows one parent to be at home with their children believing that the girls need their mother during this critical age.
Now the question to be asked. Was this a fair sentence? Would most people get to wait til the holidays were over to serve their time then get the added bonus of only one parent in jail at a time? The judge says there should be no special treatment but it sure seems like some was given. What are your thoughts on the sentencing of Joe and Teresa Guidice?
