We begin right after the departure of Kandy Ho last week (for a complete recap, click here). The queens are discussing the events of last week’s elimination. Jaidynn is thankful to survive the Lip Sync for Your Life and does not want to do that again “No ma’am, Pam, no ham, no turkey, no cauliflower!” Meanwhile, Max snaps that he will do one wig that isn’t gray and then go back to wearing gray wigs again. Apparently, Michelle Visage isn’t the only one that’s tired of Max’s same old tired, worn-out looks on the runway. Kennedy wants to see Max in the bottom two for once so he can get a much needed reality check. That being said, the queens were also throwing some shade Kennedy’s way as well: “She looks like Tony the Tiger on crack!” according to one miss Violet Chachki.
Fast forward to this week: the queens are in the werk room and Ru comes in and announces this week’s maxi-challenge. That’s right, it is time for Snatch Game! This is everyone’s favorite episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race each year. The queens all have to come up with a celebrity they want to imitate in the drag parody version of Match Game. Of course, the first step in this challenge is deciding who to impersonate. Violet says she is doing Donatella Versace *yawn* … but so is Miss Fame! DRAMA! Violet says she has been practicing her impersonation for a whole eight months and has no backup character planned, while Miss Fame says she has had this planned since the first time she auditioned for the show. Meanwhile, Kennedy Davenport is thinking of being Little Richard, which is apparently the stupidest idea ever. This is SNATCH GAME… Little Richard does not have a snatch… making the connection yet? The other queens immediately try to talk Kennedy out of this as it is understood that the queens do impersonations of female celebrities. Ginger suggests that Kennedy do Sweet Brown instead… AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FUH DAT!
Ru enters the werk room to check on the queens as they prepare for Snatch Game. He asks Miss Fame what she is working on for the challenge and she says she was originally planning on Donatella Versace but has decided to do go with Theresa Caputo from Long Island Medium since Violet is doing Donatella. Ru reminds Miss Fame that this is a competition and that she should play to win and not worry about the other queens. Miss Fame decides that she will portray Donatella Versace after all. Ru makes his way over to Kennedy, who is now torn between choosing either Little Richard or Sweet Brown. Ru says that all he is gonna say is that the decision is up to Kennedy. But gurl we all know that Ru was thinking WTF is wrong with her? Meanwhile, Ru goes over to Violet who says that she is also doing Versace. Ru was not impressed with Violet’s little imitation of Versace and talks her into portraying Alyssa Edwards instead.
It’s now time for SNATCH GAME!!! The two contestants (and guest judges) are Michael Urie and Tamar Braxton. The first star is Max as Sharon Needles, winner of season 4 of Drag Race. And OMG LOOK! No gray hair! I for one and floored by this startling departure from the dusty old gray wigs that perfectly suit Max’s [lack of]personality. Next we have Jaidynn as Raven Symone, although you wouldn’t have been able to guess that without the names being displayed in front of the queens. Katya impersonated Suze Orman. Next up was Violet as Alyssa Edwards from season 5. Her Alyssa impersonation was much better than her Donatella Versace one, but still wasn’t that great in my opinion. Pearl portrayed Big Ang. This was rather weird but definitely not the worst of the impersonations. Of course, Miss Fame went ahead and did Donatella Versace. Well, it was more of a knockoff Donatella Versace that had a Russian accent. This one definitely did not do it for me. Kennedy decided to go with his idea for Little Richard. Although I did not like this idea at first, I was pleasantly surprised as Kennedy absolutely KILLED it with his over the top caricature. Finally, Ginger Minj was Adele. Of course, Ginger absolutely slayed in her character as well. She never broke character, nailed the look and the accent and was very funny!
We are back in the werk room after Snatch Game and Katya opens up to Miss Fame about his struggles with addiction and being away from his support system while on the show. Miss Fame admits he has been sober for nine years and it’s like starting all over again being away from his support and loved ones.
Okay, enough with all the touchy feely stuff… it’s time to head to the main stage! The queens once again showcase their looks on the runway. Ginger Minj has one of the best looks, serving us some Elvis “Prissley.” Max comes out all in black as the “not-so-remorseful” widow, and even has black hair instead of gray! After the queens take their turns on the runway, the judges deliberate and determine that Kennedy is the winner of this week’s maxi-challenge! But that’s not all… there is a second winner! That’s right, Ginger Minj is also the winner of this week’s maxi-challenge! The bottom two queens that will be lip syncing for their lives are Max and Jaidynn. In the end, Max is the one that sashays away from the competition. (Yay!)
