This week on Survivor…
Oh, yeah… There is so a method to this madness. If Josh thinks that not voting for Nadiya with the rest of the boys and writing down HIS ALLIANCE MEMBER’S NAME DOWN INSTEAD, was smart move… I’m sorry, man, but that’s not a smart move. You basically called out your alliance with Baylor publicly.
On the blue side of the island, Alec reveals a little too much about his personal life with Drew very pleased with the display of his flexibility. Drew and Jon flex around the island too and Jeremy is pretty sure that their happy attitude is fake and that the girls don’t like either one of them.. And then this happens…
Their flint is missing… These people and their ability to keep an eye on vital tools to survival on Survivor… Jon admits to losing the flint so that people can see that he feels bad about it and will do anything to make it up to all of them. I guess there is some logic in that, but really… I’d still be upset that you lost the flint, dude.
At the reward challenge… Before getting the party started, Jeff, of course, must pull some emotions out of the players by asking Natalie about being away from her sister. They haven’t been apart in ten years, something that Jeff is very much well aware of and of course, Natalie fights back the tears unsuccessfully. The rest of the tribe is supportive and then it’s time to get started. John Rocker… I mean, “So-And-So” wins the paper rock scissors and pulls him and his girlfriend into the arena to fight for fishing supplies. And quite a challenge this is… And it involves balls, which are Jeff’s favorite challenge item because the puns… the puns…
You’d think a former baseball player would be able to handle a ball, but apparently this is not the case because “So-And-So” … The Rocker keeps dropping his ball and is forced to go to the beginning of the course. Julie; however, is doing very well and easily gets to the end of the course where she quickly lands three balls into holes on an inclined course.
So the blue team wins, sending John to Exile Island and Julie chooses Jeremy to join him there, but first… Alec speaks up before the tribes are shuffled back to camp – They lost their flint and um, they were kind of wondering if, um, Jeff would maybe, you know, barter their half-full bag of beans for new flint… Oh Jeff is having none of that! They should have spoken up before they won all of that beautiful fishing gear. He offers them fire for fishing gear, they can keep their beans. There is some discussion, but in the end, FIRE IS THEIR LIFE in the game, as Jeff says all of the time so they choose to give up the gear for flint.
Back at the blue camp, Natalie is still very upset about being away from her sister and Miss Momma Missy is very sympathetic. She thought this would be hard for a mother/daughter team, but Nadiya and Natalie are twins, they’ve been together their whole lives. Missy really respects the relationship and displays her sympathy in a very good social move for her game. Always gotta be supportive when people are upset. It’s a game, a social game, and Baylor’s mom seems to be doing very well right now.
Time to pop over to the orange camp and see what’s happening over there!
Well, well, well… Wes isn’t the only one who recognizes The Rocker. Pretty much all the guys in blue know who he is and all of the controversy that surrounded him at one point. Josh thinks that this is an advantage because he’s not really making any friends on the island and he’s an asset to have in the game because of this.
Meanwhile… On Exile Island…
Jeremy is also aware of The Rocker’s past. He remembers that The Rocker said racist things, but he’s not saying that The Rocker is a racist, but that that controversy will follow him… BUT! Jeremy needs The Rocker to help protect his wife on the other side of the island so… Time to buddy it up with John Rocker. They each get to choose an urn, Jeremy chooses the one with the clue and as a guesture of good intentions, he shares it with The Rocker.
Immunity!
This challenge is so Survivor Classic and it’s great. The highlights are above, but Dave’s daughter Kelley did very well in this challenge, making her dad very proud, but oh so conflicted! He wanted to win Immunity so badly, but he also wanted his daughter to be safe, and he’s happy for her, but UGH! Tribal Council…
So the blue team wins Immunity again so of course we go straight to the orange camp after the challenge. The Rocker approaches Val and they discuss the clues to the idol and Val, who wants to make big moves in the game decides that her big move will be lying about having two idols when in fact she has none. What a horrible move! Sorry, Val, but you should only lie about having idols when you actually have idols and it should be lying that you don’t have any idols so no one tries to flush it out of your pockets. Everyone who watches Survivor knows that. AND to top it all off, The Rocker and Val are discussing this right in front of Jaclyn, like she’s not even there, hearing everything they are talking about! I’m just baffled by this total disregard of having a private conversation. If Jaclyn is smart, she will use this information to her advantage now or later on in the game.
Since The Rocker did get to see the clue he goes out looking for the idol and look at that! He found it. So now he knows Val is lying about having two idols, but doesn’t really seem to grasp that she doesn’t even have one… After finding the idol, The Rocker goes to Wes and Josh to let them know what Val said by the water cooler; she has two idols and will use them to protect herself and Jaclyn. OH! That’s why she didn’t mind her standing there!
During The Rocker’s talk with Wes and Josh, it is discussed that they should split the votes between Val and Baylor, but Val shouldn’t be made to be aware that Baylor is going to have votes against her. Josh thinks that is very important to the vote tonight. In a confessional The Rocker states that he is dedicated to keeping Val safe, which… Um… Why aren’t you trying to keep her safe by offering up new names to be written down at Tribal Council? How is letting people vote for Val keeping her safe? These sports guys… They never make it much further than the merge…
So what does The Rocker do? Immediately goes to Val to let her know how the votes are going to be split and that she’ll need to play her idol if she wants to stay in the game. Val thinks this is great because she can rally another two votes for Baylor and be safe…
Now onto Tribal Council!
So basically this Tribal is about how Baylor has been playing both sides; the boys and the girls. Val is really angry that Baylor didn’t vote with the girls at the last Tribal Council. Baylor is wow’d by how angry Val is and blah blah blah. Jeff tweeted during the show asking people who they thought would be getting voted out this week… I almost tweeted back “Well, it looks like Baylor so obviously it will be Val”, but I decided against it. I should have because…
Val… Is… Outta there. If she hadn’t lied about having idols, she might still be around. The Rocker was right there trying to help her and she should have been honest right then and there. And duh, John Rocker, you found an idol so duh, you should have known there was something up with Val’s claim to have two. What are you gonna do when Jeremy sees that she is gone? Do you really think your girl is going to be safe now? I’m guessing not. May not matter, though because from the looks of it, next week, you’re going to be the center of attention and it’s not in a good way…
