Amazing Race Canada began its third season and I am so excited to be back recapping all the action for you guys. This year our race starts off in La Belle Province. Historic Quebec City is where our racers are setting off from. After a brief intro to all our racers I couldn’t find one I didn’t like. I’m expecting some great drama from Sabrina and Leilani. Don’t disappoint me ladies. Sean will provide some much need comedic relief. Not only does he look like Jon Richardson’s long lost son, he sound and acts like him too. I am going to love watching mini Jon run this race! Jon Montgomery gives our racers the OK to start off and they all race to their packs to find their first clue. This is it. The Race has begun.
Once to their packs they rip open their first clue. The need to find the Quai 22 and unlock a pair of bikes. Every team has their own code so finding THEIR specific bike could be a an issue. Gino and Jesse are the first to unlock their bikes after trying a few and Sean and Brent are lucky enough to get their bike on the first one they try. Nic and Sabrina are lost in Quebec City. After the last team grabs their bike they find poor Nic and Sabrina and steer them in the right direction. They are the last team to get their bikes.
After unlocking their bikes they need to make their way to the Ferry dock and ride the Ferry across the St. Lawrence River to the marked cars. Gino and Jesse get the first ferry all to themselves. Poor Sean, the emotions of the day get the best of him and he loses his lunch on the Ferry. I really hope he doesn’t spend the entire race in the toilet! The lower the number the earlier their flight. Gino and Jesse grab car 1 and Nic and Sabrina missed the Ferry and are alone in last place. With no racers in sight that is not what the place you want to be in. Can they bounce back from this? Teams are flying to Toronto now on two different flights. Once in Toronto they need to make their way to St Lawrence Market. Unfortunately for the first flight teams they all need to wait til 8am for the market to open to receive their clue. Nic and Sabrina are back in this!
They are given their clues and they need to unscramble letters to find street names that make up an intersection in the market which is the location to their next clue. Most teams seem to get the hang of it and find the intersection of Main St and Centre St. Max and Elias are searching for Street Meat and Dessert. Why, I have no idea. Elias keeps telling her there is no D, but Max won’t be swayed. Finally they figure it out too. They all find the butcher and he gives them their next clue. Make your way to TSN! Every Canadian knows that is The Sport Network even if you aren’t into sports! Sorry everyone but Brent and Sean. I LOL’d as he said, what’s TSN…Toronto Stock….oh boy. I love my gays!
Gino and Jesse are the first to arrive. It’s time for our first Roadblock! Who’s feeling sporty? Jesse is! Each person gets to learn the ins and outs of a sports cast. From getting camera ready to delivering the perfect sports cast with TSN Anchor James Duthie. They need to nail it perfectly, from looking at the right camera, getting all the names correct (and did they pick some doozies) to pausing in the right spots and ending on time James will decide when the delivery is flawless. Brent and Sean’s cab gets them totally lost and Sean has a mini breakdown. Jesse is the first to complete the roadblock! The last teams at this roadblock are Neil, Elias and Susan who has a fear of public speaking. Finally Neil gets it and its a battle between Susan and Elias who struggles with dyslexia. Susan leaves first and Elias isn’t too far behind.
Everyone makes their way to Atlantic in Ontario Place for the second Roadblock. Who’s feeling sporty now? This one is for those who didn’t do the last roadblock. It’s a water obstacle course. First they need to cross a net bridge high up in the air over water, then high dive into water and swim to the edge and then cross a rolling log to get their next clue. I’m out right here. Heights and water are NOT my thing. Gino has no 
problems, Sabrina who was the second there is freaking out! I’ll give her credit though. She gets it done her only request. They never speak of it again. I kind of love her! Ope gets there and he has never swam before. It takes him a few minutes to gather his courage with daughter Simi encouraging him from the ground. He gets the job done too.Cynthia takes a lot of hard hits from that log roll then kicks herself when she sees Kristin sit on it (as did Sabrina) and shuffle across! These ladies are tough this season!
After the roadblocks are done teams make their way to the first pit stop of the season at the Air Canada Center. Jon greets them with the Raptors mascot. Gino and Jesse come in first place and win a trip for 2 to Rio DeJaneiro and 2.5 million petro points which really means 6 months of free gas! Remember Nic and Sabrina lost in Quebec, they are team number 2 followed by Brent and Sean in third. Susan and Sharn and Max and Elias are
battling for that coveted number 11 spot. The ladies beat them out by minutes and Max and Elias are eliminated from the race. It just goes to show that picking the right person for the right challenge is key. They did their best and I know that TSN challenge couldn’t have been easy for Elias so good for him for getting it done. Teams are now off to South America. I can’t wait to see what happens there!
